Ashton is taking a break from acting and trying his hand at directing. He is saying “Everybody do the flop.” This stunt is allowing Ashton to live vicariously through little sister Emma. It is impossible for Ashton to keep his balance on a surface that is not firm not to mention one that is wobbly. After Ashton had his heel cord surgery he was able to stand still without moving, falling or holding on to something. Still it is more difficult for him to stand still and it is to keep moving. And due to him being a fall and high fracture risk he does not go on elevated surfaces.
